How I work
Following the evidence. Making it matter.
From first measurement to final testimony.
I work through what I call the DATA approach — Diagnose, Audit, Translate, Advise: the four stages every project moves through. Much of this field works one side of the line — they measure, or they translate and advise. I work across the whole span, from designing the measurement to standing behind it under cross-examination. I do that work with collaborators as often as alone; the point isn’t that it’s one person, it’s that it’s one coherent through-line, with no handoff where the evidence gets weakened.
Diagnose
Start with people and the systems around them.
People and platforms act on each other: companies tune algorithms, but users' own behavior feeds those algorithms and can meaningfully shape what the algorithm shows them. I study both sides of that loop — through nationally representative surveys, direct behavioral measurement, and field experiments run across tens to hundreds of millions of people — to understand what people actually experience and how people and systems change each other.

Audit
Stress-test the evidence; hold its use accountable.
Evidence is only as good as its provenance. I build defensible, reproducible sources of ground truth and scrutinize how data gets used — so every claim can be traced back to what was actually measured.

Translate
Make complex systems legible to people who must act.
Evidence nobody understands changes nothing. I turn technical and behavioral complexity into language and tools that lawyers, policymakers, journalists, and the public can actually use — without flattening the details that matter.

Help institutions and courts act on the evidence well.
The point of all of it is better decisions. I bring the measurement and the translation together for organizations, regulators, and courts — so high-stakes calls rest on what the evidence actually supports, and don't fold under pressure.
